About

Robert Horster is the author of ‘Reflections’.

Robert started this blog together with his friend, Bart, back in the spring of 2012. ‘Reflections’ saw the light of day as a travel blog, then called ‘Beschouwingen’ –  Dutch  for reflections. At the time, Bart and Robert were both traveling in Asia and to them it seemed a good idea to exchange thoughts on Asian culture via a weblog. Over time, ‘Beschouwingen’ morphed into a collection of reflections of everyday life, ranging from the language of geese to why middle-aged men go on ski outings without their spouses.

For a number of good and bad reasons, pretty much one full year after its inception, Bart and Robert stopped contributing to the blog. In November of 2013, Robert decided to pick up the thread, making two important changes as he set out writing again: from here on out, his reflections will be in English, as Robert had noted that friends and family members, who do not speak Dutch, had expressed an interest in following the blog. And, content wise, the blog will focus on three loosely connected topics from the world of commodities that he lives in: markets, their supposedly rational actors and sustainability of supply chains.
